Vol XV - FIGHTING AND IMPROVING

Dear Members,

We have recently faced problems with phishing sites attacking our beloved PBN, some of our members diligently reported the alert messages of their fire walls and anti virus softwares to us, by then we were already looking for the source of the problem and finding solutions.

This is something to put special attention to, therefore we have decided that the best way to assure saftety and avoid this problem again is working with a more efficient dedicated server which includes specific anti-malware and anti-virus tools suitable to our needs.

Along with these improvements in our defense, we will be able to add new features and upgrades to existing ones. Our goal is to offer an efficient and valuable platform to maximize your online networking experience with us.

If you are not a Professional BlackBook Network member yet, please send us an email to members@professionalblackbook.com to request an invitation to our site.

See you all soon!

Vol XIV - PBN at TAILOR NEW YORK

Our friends from SOHO Design Magazine hosted another pre-launching event in New York and we had the pleasure to co-host it along with SohoNYC.com once again. The publication is scheduled to be out in October 2009, and everybody is talking about it already, The Aston Group (publishing company) is doing an excellent job branding their product prior to the introduction of the first issue to the market.

On Wednesday, July 22nd 2009, Professional BlackBook members, clients and associates of the magazine and business owners and representatives from the SOHO community gathered at Tailor New York to enjoy of a great social and networking mix.
Beth and I had the opportunity to meet and greet some of our members, and make new acquaintances and contacts, we are already thinking on having another gathering in New York soon.

Bulldog Gin offered complimentary signature cocktails during the first hour, this new liquor brand originally from UK is a smoother type of gin, a great alternative to other spirits to create cocktails.

Vol XII - EARTH HOUR 2009

On March 28th 2009 at 8:30pm the world got together to raise a voice of concern about global warming and climate change. Hundreds of millions of people in over 4000 cities and towns in 88 countries turned off their lights. EARTH HOUR is a global event created to symbolize that each one of us, working together, can make a positive impact on climate change

EARTH HOUR started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia with 2.2 million homes and businesses turning their lights off for one whole hour. Only a year later and this event had become a global sustainability movement with up to 100 million people across 35 countries participating. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.

Professional BlackBook Network proudly supported this innitiative by posting banners in our website and promoting Earth Hour events locally in some cities. For next year we are planning to play a more active role encouraging all our members to participate.
"This is the perfect opportunity for individuals, governments, schools, businesses and communities around the world to unite for a common purpose, in response to a global issue that affect us all."- Carter S. Roberts, President and CEO WWF

If you participated or supported Earth Hour please feel free to leave a comment here, let us know how.

Vol XI - NEW YORK EVENT

After an intense month of March I come back to our blog with exiting news to share; this particular post is dedicated to our last event.
On Wednesday, March 25th the Professional BlackBook Network co-hosted the Pre-Launching Event of SOHO DESIGN MAGAZINE, a new publication scheduled to launch its first issue on Fall 2009 featuring the best in design, art, fashion and dining focusing on the district of Soho in Manhattan, NY.

I had the pleasure to work with a fantastic team of partners for the party, where great synergies were created and the results were beyond our expectations. John White (Publisher of Soho Design Magazine) had been in touch with the founder of SohoNYC.com Jaime Gutierrez, a website dedicated to show the best Soho has to offer including listings of restaurants, shops, art galleries and much more, he told us he had the perfect venue to host the affair so we followed his lead. He introduced us to Delicatessen, a hip restaurant and lounge located in the heart of Manhattan right on the corner of Lafayette and Prince St.

After a few weeks of planning and preparations, I flew to New York the day of the event to finally meet Jaime and Brandi, the VIP Director of Delicatessen. The event was phenomenal, we got a great turn out of locals who enjoyed the cozy yet energetic settings of Delicatessen lounge, which soon got packed and guests had to be invited to join the bar at the restaurant. Gift bags were given away from a limo parked right outside the party, courtesy of Best Limo NYC.
I was happy to meet some of our NYC members for the first time, and see some familiar faces again. Unfortunatelly Beth wasn't able to attend as she was enjoying time with her parents in sunny Miami, and I missed her as we always do a good team hosting events together, greeting guests, etc. Jaime, Brandi and John were the perfect partners for this event and we are grateful that they invited us to be part of it.

The photographer of Manhattan Society had plenty of socializing and mingling guests to work with, check out the pictures of the event HERE.

See you all soon, and I look forward to receiving your comments and feedback.
Cheers!

Vol X - MIAMI & NEW YORK EVENTS

Despite of the windy evening, last Wednesday's Havana San Juan event in Miami was great, Beth & I were pleased to see how many of our members stopped by to enjoy of the rooftop settings and good old salsa, mambo and other Latin beats, as they mingled with the regulars of this weekly new signature event at the Gansevoort South Hotel.

We are looking forward to work with Erin, Geno and David again, the charismatic hosts of Havana San Juan, who work as a perfect team making things happen with professionalism and attention to detail.

Our next New York event is on the works, in partnership with Soho Design Magazine, a new publication scheduled to launch in July 2009, showcasing the best of design, fashion, art and restaurants in Soho, NY. We will soon release the date, the venue and further details. I hope Beth will be in town that day, she has been traveling a lot lately as her law firm, Di Santo LLP, expands and grows. I will have to make an appearance but I'm not thrilled to travel up north at that time of the year, is not warm enough yet!

In the meantime if you are in New York or planning on traveling there anytime soon, check out http://www.sohonyc.com/, a great source of information featuring a directory of businesses, restaurants, news, and more valuable information on Soho, the internationally known neighborhood in the heart of the "Big Apple".

More exiting news about PBN coming up soon... in the meantime we always welcome and appreciate your comments, suggestions and feedback.

Cheers!
Marcelo

Vol IX - HAVANA SAN JUAN & PBN

We are exited to announce our next gathering in Miami, this time bringing a different type of event, the revival of a golden era for the latin music; Havana San Juan showcases the only Mambo to clasic Salsa music dance event...a party Miami style.

The concept began decades ago, during the hightened pulse of the heyday of the 50's in Havana, Cuba to the 70's in NYC. a haven for the iconic celebs of the Rat Pack Genre. Names like Marilyn Monroe, Sammy Davis Jr. and Desi Arnaz were not infrequent to the popular dance clubs of the day.

We thought it would be a great idea to partner up with a party like HAVANA SAN JUAN, adding some latin flavor, great music and fantastic entertainment to the social & networking scene that our members and friends are used to find at our events, and they will still be able to enjoy at this one.

The upscale settings of the Plunge Rooftop Lounge at the fabulous Gansevoort South Hotel in South Beach are the perfect match for the fete, which will include complimentary mojitos from 8pm to 9pm, and later in the evening fabulous latin dance shows.
Join us on Wednesday, February 25th
8pm to 2am

Plunge Rooftop Lounge @ the Gansevoort South
2377 Collins Avenue - South Beach

Please confirm your attendance to rsvp@havanasanjuan.com
For bottle service call: 954.232.0772

Beth is going to be in town again, so join us for a mojito or two, and for those wondering what is happening with New York...still in the works. Our next post: PBN is going GREEN

See you all soon!
